Python for Quant Work

Python's numerical ecosystem and modern packaging make it the default language of quant research and trading infrastructure.

Math & Programming Foundations

Nearly every quant desk, research team, and open-source library in finance speaks Python. It is the glue between data feeds, numerical kernels, and reporting, with NumPy and pandas as its workhorse libraries and a packaging story — pip, virtual environments, and the newer uv resolver — that keeps projects reproducible across machines. Fluency here means writing idiomatic, tested scripts, managing dependencies deliberately, and reading library source without fear. Everything in this track and every later one assumes that baseline, which is why Python comes first: it is the language the rest of the roadmap is written in.
